A little bit about me....

My name is Marissa Bowman, but then again you probably already know that. I grew up in San Diego; the product of a suburban SoCal upbringing filled with soccer tournaments and family outings at the beach. I'm one of the lucky natives of this beautiful area I call home. I've always been the creative type, interested in drawing and making things to feed my active imagination. From the days of Crayola crayons and markers to my present adult self, I'm still the same kid looking for a creative outlet. Today, my passion is design. I live, breathe, and eat design (figuratively speaking, of course). Good design makes weak in the knees.

The formal stuff...

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Diego in Spring 2007 with a B.A. in Fine Art with a double emphasis in Visual Communications and New Media, and a minor in Psychology. This formal education, coupled with intermittent courses at the Watts Atelier of the Arts, has enabled me to hone my interest in art and design into a passion for it. Coming from a fairly traditional fine art background, it was not until I discovered design that I found the most satisfying manner of conveying my message to my audience. My experience at USD has shown me that design is where my deepest passion lies, and that without this creative outlet my ideas would be left unrealized, and my message suppressed.

Upon graduating from USD, I decided to continue my design education at the UCSD Digital Arts Center, where I received specialized certificates in Digital Design and Web Design, and most recently Video, Sound, and Motion Graphics. This professional program has provided me with integral tools to ensure success in the creative industry, and the awareness to view design with a critical eye. It is through my experience at the Digital Arts Center that I am able to offer my creative services with confidence and pride.

A little more about me...

When I'm not designing, looking at design, or thinking about design, I enjoy listening to music (often while designing...), going to concerts, getting lost in a good book, reading blogs, drawing/doodling on whatever happens to be in front of me, learning new things, photography, spending time with my awesome family and adorable dog, and dreaming big.
